DS Hestmanden bows photo by Brian J Burnett
Yesterday we visited the Norwegian steamer DS Hestmanden on her visit to Aberdeen Harbour. She is a cargo ship that sailed in convoys during both World Wars. Her steam engine is operational and run by a crew of fantastic volunteers. Fascinating visit to a ship that was launched in 1911 and still going! You can find more information about her inspiring story here and here.
Brian took the opportunity, before heading over to give Matthew Firth has first dive on the San Tiburcio to ping some more marks in our search for the lost WW-II D-Day preparation Valentine Tanks. I dropped in on the most promising one and here she is...
Last night the club held the Annual General Meeting for 2024.
We now have a new committee, diver of the year, new membership levels and fees were introduced. You can read more in the club's AGM minutes
A few of us met up at Namaste Deli on Bridge Street. It was great to catch-up with active and past members again.
A good turnout and a lot of enthusiasm organising and planning dives. these have now been updated on the club calendar and you will hear more about them in the near future. If you want to organise a dive just drop the expedition officer a line.
You can find more information in our planning page
